Dear agony aunt,
I can’t make any friends! At break and lunch I try talking to
some girls in my class but I can’t fit in with their conversation. They always talk about things I don’t know much about and they think I’m boring when I can’t join in.I feel very lonely, can you help me?

Maybe you could try finding out what you have in common and talk about that. Maybe you should also try joining some after school clubs, so you’ll make friends with people you have something in common with.

I have some exams coming up and I’m really stressed. I can’t concentrate on anything because I’m scared I’ll fail.

What can I do?

Try talking to a teacher that specialises in the exam subject. They should be able to give you good ways of revising e.g. websites and past tests. They might also be able to help you find a study group. You should talk to your friends who are taking the exam, they could be feeling the same way as you. I hope this helps.

Dear agony aunt,

Some girls in my class are picking on a quiet girl in our class. Because she’s shy she won’t tell anyone, but I’ve noticed what’s going on.

What should I do?

You should tell a learning mentor, peer mentor or a teacher. Also, if the girl knows someone’s on her side, she will be more likely to come forward. Hopefully if you and a member of staff help, it will bring an end to the problem. I hope this helps.

Dear agony aunt,

I am having a problem about making friends in my form since vertical tutoring has started. I don’t have anybody in my form, it’s really annoying because I can’t talk to anybody. Do you have any ideas to make new friends? If so I really need them now!!

I am sorry to hear that if you want to make friends in your form then you need to : try talking to them and see what you both have in common, try telling a joke and that sort of thing really!
